Ways to live forever – The Movie

Robbie Kay (’Pinoccio’) is the actor playing the role of Sam. Ben Chaplin (’The Thin Red Line’, ‘Birthday Girl’) plays the father and Emilia Fox (’The Pianist’, ‘Dorian Gray’), the mother. Phyllida Law (’Mia Sarah’, ‘Much Ado About Nothing’) is Sam´s granmother and his best friend is played by Alex Etel (’Millions’). Greta Scacchi (’Presumed Innocent’, ‘White Mischief’, ‘Brideshead Revisited’) and Natalia Tena (’Harry Potter’) also act in the film.

The movie will be shot in Newcastle upon Tyne (United Kingdom) and filming will finish late December. Just before Christmas, Gustavo Ron (Director), Miguel Pérez Gilaberte (Director of Photography), Martyn Auty (Producer), Jason Carlin (Production Designer) and Susannah Buxton (Costume Designer) will head to Galicia where some final scenes will be shot. Juan Sánchez (’Mia Sarah’) will be in charge of the editing and Miopia Efectos Visuales is the company that will create the animation for the film. Last but not least, César Benito (’Mia Sarah’) will compose the music and the South African musician Farryl Purkiss will also colaborate.

This list is at the beginning of the movie and it sums it up: the last wishes of a child suffering from leukemia with only months to live. Sam has decided to write a diary and film himself to remain in the memory of his loved ones and that way, make it to ‘live forever‘. Through these videos, Sam describes his particular circumstances and how this affects his view of the world. He is trying to find answers to those questions that even adults try to avoid answering.

‘Ways to Live Forever’ is Gustavo Ron´s second feature film after ‘Mia Sarah’. The story is based on the award-winning novel by Sally Nicholls. From now on this site will be a diary of the shoot.
